On July 7, 2016 customers, partners and guests from academia, politics, business, and media sneaked a peak into our second new building of SAP in Potsdam. Since 2011, some of the smartest and most creative talents from all around the world have joined our team in Germany’s capital region, focusing on both innovating the core business and pioneering new markets as well as disruptive technologies. Around 280 engineers, designers, product experts, and business developers from more than 30 different nations work here in international and interdisciplinary teams. As big ideas need even bigger spaces, it was time for a second brand new building.
The Open House Day in Potsdam was a great occasion to bring together thought leaders from multiple industries to discuss the challenges of tomorrow and to showcase SAP’s innovation power via project exhibitions and deep dives throughout the day. The host Jürgen Müller, Head of SAP Innovation Center Network, and Stefan Ries, Chief Human Resources Officer and Member of SAP’s Executive Board, welcomed our guests and kicked of a day full of inspiring talks and networking opportunities. Both stressed the importance of the SAP location in Germany’s capital region, close to an ecosystem of young talents, universities, start-ups and politics. Albrecht Gerber, Brandenburg’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, expressed his gratitude to SAP as a key player in the IT industry, supporting the region and attracting new talents from around the world. SAP set a strong example by creating a dedicated space for innovation, said Gerber.
After the welcome note, inspiring panels and a keynote by Prof. Reto Wettach and Nancy Birkhölzer (IXDS) followed. All together the Open House Day offered a great opportunity not only for our guests to look behind the scenes of SAP, but also for us to reflect on our work and what milestones we have already achieved within the last years.
